Export Licensing

New Export Controls on EMCCD cameras

In January 2009 the UK Government will bring in to effect export licensing for EMCCD cameras.

For the vast majority of our customers there will be no impact as Andor currently operates a number of “Open General Export Licences” (OGELs) that allow us simply to record the destination of these controlled products.Countries covered under the OGELs include all members of the EU, the USA, Canada, Japan, Australia, New Zealand, Norway and Switzerland. For territories where we currently have restrictions on the export of ICCDs, the same export licensing restrictions will apply to EMCCDs.

Andor has many years of experience of applying for licences for its ICCD range and are well positioned to manage the licensing requirements for EMCCD cameras. We believe there should be limited impact on the lead-times to our customers.

Please note that this licensing requirement is the UK implementation of a world wide agreement called “The Wassenaar Arrangement on Export Controls for Conventional Arms and Dual-Use Goods and Technologies”, which is a multilateral export control regime with 40 participating states, including the USA and Japan.
